Photography Business Name Ideas
1. Gain Inspo from Photography Business Names Online
In the online world, there is a thing called SEO. This is a process where websites, blogs, and pages of all kinds are optimized in order to give attention to a certain focus keyword that people will use throughout the article, site, or page. This keyword is something common that many people will likely search for. A perfect keyword is found through a generating system that gives basic words that will match the topic most closely. This applies to photography business names too.
This way of enhancing the presence and popularity of your business in your area is by associating your name with your niche or with something able to inspire a sense of wonder. For example, if you are a wedding photographer, find a creative formula to link it to what distinguishes your sector of expertise. As seen below, phrases like ‘I Do!’ or ‘Kiss the Bride’ and ‘photography’ make a perfect combination. ‘Two of a Kind Wedding Photography’ could be another option to consider.
Also, if you are a portrait photographer go for something like ‘Breathless Portrait Photography’, ‘Frozen in Time Portraits’ or something simple like ‘Natural Beauty Portrait Photography’.

Get Deep
Understanding the depths of what you do will help you to choose some great photography business names. Maybe you do more than just simple photography. Maybe you have crazy niches that are unique to just a handful of businesses. Maybe you offer different services like videography or a certain type of photo editing. No matter what you do, dig into your ideals. Things like your faith, your values, the things you cherish as a business are what will get you the name you’re looking for. If you are a family company, flaunt that in your photography business name. If you are a friendly team, make the front and center when choosing between a few photography business names, or creating a list of them. Dig into what makes your photography business your own, and let that drive your creativity in photography business names.
Make It Simple
Being long winded is totally fine if you do it with your bio or your explanations of your business, but it has been proven that a short, sweet, and simple name is very important. People want to be able to understand who you are and what you do by those very specific few words. When I first had to come up with a brand name, I really wanted it to be clever. Even when I used to write blog posts for my business, I always wanted the title to be something catchy and punny. But then I realized that the public did not understand what the title of my business or my blogs had to do with the actual writing right off the bat. When a friend finally told me that my titles threw them off, as well as my brand name at the time, it hit me. It’s great to be unique, which is vital for a good photography business name. But it is not good to be so unique that you throw people off and confuse them, instead of pulling them in. As you name your business, think of it as you would when you name your child. It should be easy to say, short, sweet, and meaningful.
Make It Special
Though it should be simple, it should also be special and unique to you. It should be meaningful. Just like with naming a child, this name will last a long time and be vocalized by everyone who comes across it. It should be an individualized thing. Think of some of your favorite words, ones that apply to what you do and what you’re all about, and go from there. Words that point to the real heart and soul of your company. For me, there are 4 or 5 words I have found in various things I’ve read that stick in my heart and I plan on using them for my businesses. The good thing with photography is that no matter what meaningful words you choose, you will always be able to add in the simple word “photography” and it will be obvious what you’re about. So really, you can get as meaningful as you want!
Think of Your Logo
Your logo is important. Are you changing your logo as well as brainstorming a good photography business name. Your name should fit with your logo. A good way to make sure the two work well together is by using an app or website to generate a variety of logos with all types of colors and fonts. This is a great way to get a picture of what you want first, without purchasing anything before it’s complete. Remember that changing the name is in a way rebranding as a whole. It only makes sense to get fresh, innovative, and fun photography business names to match your logo. Who knows, maybe you’ll want to update the logo as well?
3. Turn Your Name Into a Brand
Depending on what your business aims are, using your name is not only the most convenient option when looking for business naming but also a great idea if you consider building a brand.
As you are at the center of your business it is simply natural to use your own name to promote your services. But building a brand takes more than using your name in reference to your photographic work. If you take a look at huge names in the industry, these photographers have built strong profiles and also a fan community.
What to Consider When Turning Your Business Name Into a Personal Brand:
- Think of your business as a brand character and make your profile contain both personal and professional information. Fans and clients alike are always crazy about the private life and preferences of the ‘artist’. Spice your About Page up, in case you have a website, with things that not everyone knows about you.
- Engage with your clients. Give them the opportunity to reach out to you in diverse forms. Feedback is important.
- Share your expertise. If writing is your thing as well, why not creating a blog where you can share your experiences and talk about projects? Your followers would love it.
- Networking is the key to any promotion strategy. Your business name will stand for all your social media profiles, which would definitely bring you more exposure.
- Consider your branding name in every little thing you do related to your business, from interacting with your clients to participating in different events and workshops. Your name is your brand.
Get Your Message Straight
Your photography business name should convey a message. Maybe it is the promise of a memorable experience, maybe it inspires something highly creative. Anyhow, it should capture the attention and curiosity of your clients just like your amazing pictures do.
Choosing the ideal photography business names is essential for gaining more popularity. However, it is only one marketing objective among others. Before choosing it, make sure you know your target audience and what new opportunities such a name can attract in your market.
If you are interested in promoting your business online, for instance, take note that your website bears your biz name which practically makes it your visiting card. Before deciding on it, check if the domain is available to avoid an unpleasant surprise. Also, your photo business name will appear on all your social media sites. Is your biz name catchy enough to get you more clients?.
So your business is doing really well. You are gaining clients to photograph left and right, and more and more people are reaching out. You want to make sure all your services are in a centralized place, under one umbrella name. Your business name is everything. It gives a window peak into who you are, what you’re about, and what you offer to the public. It can be a big change to go from just using your personal name to rebranding, but it is so worth it for the future of your business.
Do It to Give Your Company a Face
What are some reasons to do this? For one, branding puts a face to your business. Even if the people who you shoot are in your close circle of friends, they will be able to refer to you and refer you to people by your chosen name. It sets your skills apart from others. For instance, I think of my close friend’s small businesses as separate from them, but still connected in a way. It gives a sense of professionalism because it is its own entity, but also connects your persona to your business.
Do It for Advertisement Purposes
Renaming your business is so good for advertising. You can put this stamp on everything you put out into the world, from ADs online, to magazines, or wherever else you get the word out about what your photography company can do. Instead of people trying to remember the name of a photographer they saw or met, they are able to book you because they remember your catchy name.
Do It for the Memorabilia
One of the best things about branding and renaming your business is that you can create everything from business cards to hats to mugs, to goody bags with your business name and logo. This is so much fun and a great motivator for you to really overhaul the whole brand and get a one-of-a-kind name!
Do It for the new Customers
Customers love new. Just like when people remodel their homes before renting them out in order to make them more desirable to renters, the same can be said of companies! I recently went to a restaurant in my hometown where the food is incredible but the place was old and messed up. The only redeeming quality of this hole in the wall was the incredible food. Once they got a facelift, the customers came flooding in. The redesign did nothing to change how the food tasted, but the mere presence and iconic changes really made an impact on customer appeal.
Do It for the Employees
Maybe you are not a one-person show. You could have photographers you are mentoring or ones who play second and shadow you at various events. You may have a ton of employees who are not photographers such as accountants, editors, people who keep your books, and more. Renaming your company can create a sense of pride and excitement in employees that was not there before. It makes them proud to work for a company that is united and nice. This creates good morale as an agency and brand and can make working with your brand even more fun.

Simple Tips for Photography Businesses
Keep Growing
A lot of the problem these days is that people are afraid to grow. They’re free to expand and experiment and learn different things about themselves and about their craft. Because of this, you may stay stagnant. You might decide that you don’t want to try anything new or learn how to do something differently. This mindset is going to get in the way of your creativity and growing your business and brand in photography.
In order to avoid this, remember that you are always a student. A lifelong learner. Take classes and figure out exactly what you love and then figure out the next thing. Ask other photographers and never feel you’re good for some advice. Experiment with lenses and different types of shooting and different ways of editing. Experiment with how your brand and use social media as well as how you get yourself out there. This is what will keep customers as well as keep them coming. Don’t ever feel as if you have come too far or know everything there is to know. There’s always something new you can learn especially when it comes to a creative expression like photography. Changing your photography business’ name is the first step.
Find Your Niche, or Don’t
Find your niche. Do you want to photograph birth and pregnancy? Do you want to do weddings and elopement? What is your niche? Now I’m on the fence about the whole niche thing. Is it really necessary? I have found that when you offer a variety of services, you get more work. But on the other hand, people love to choose those who specialize, and specializing can be great for the person who is working.
Maybe you try a few different things and realize you only enjoy certain types of photography. It may work in your favor to have a niche, and it may not. This is a highly individualized thing. I know tons of photographers who don’t enjoy shooting weddings because they don’t want to work on weekends. So they specialize in photography outside of wedding photography and elopement photography. I also know photographers who love wedding photography because it allows them to only work on the weekends as well as travel a ton. It’s totally up to you, and it takes a lot of trial and error to decide what niche you want to choose as well as if you want a niche at all. If you are a newer photographer, you may want to stay general until you find the one or two types of shooting that you adore.
If you do choose to niche, Really suck it dry. Do all your branding toward your niche. Incorporate it into your photography business name somehow. Become your niche and don’t settle for anything less. You’ll be amazed how much business you get based on that. Alone. General is great if you’re good at multiple things, but people really love a specialist.
