Canon PIXMA TR4520 Review

As There is no doubt that your family is growing, but the number of devices in your house is as well. Once you have multiple computers, notebooks, an iPad, and other gadgets, having a printer to make your home office a bit more convenient is a great way to cut down on some of the clutter and keep things working out smoothly.  If you are looking for a wireless photo printer and want to print photos on your phone, then the Canon PIXMA TR4520 is probably the right printer.

Canon PIXMA TR4520 wireless all in one photo printer is a convenient photo printer that can take printing to the next level. The modern and sleek design is what first comes to mind when thinking of this printer. With this printer, photos are not just print-outs anymore; they become exquisite and professional looking with its ability to print good quality photos. It provides excellent quality and performance and has a lot of additional features that may be included in this printer. In this Canon PIXMA TR4520 review, let’s talk about the overall review of this product as well as its specs, features, and price.

Canon PIXMA TR4520 Review

The PIXMA TR4520 makes printing, copying, scanning, and faxing easy. This all in one wireless printer features advanced AirPrint, Mopria Print Service and is compatible with Canon’s Auto Power On/Off, which enables the device to automatically power on whenever you need it, eliminating unnecessary energy use.

It has a duplex printing feature which prints on both sides of the paper resulting in using less paper as well as reducing environmental waste. Using a single button, scan photos on the ADF and save them directly to your mobile devices.  The wireless enabled all in one combines the convenience of mobile printing with easy setup with Wi-Fi connectivity using the Canon PRINT app.

Build & Design Quality: Our Score 7.0 Out of 10

In terms of build quality and appearance, the Canon PIXMA TR4520 is average. The printer is constructed entirely of plastic with a smooth finish that feels good. Input trays at both the front and back have large sliders to accommodate various paper sizes. There is also a concern that the rear input tray is flimsy and could snap with a little pressure.

In case of a paper jam, you are required to lift the back of the printer or lay it on its side. Additionally, you can only access the ink cartridge when the printer is on, and if you have a lot of paper in the output tray, you may have trouble replacing it.

Print Quality: Our Score 9.0 Out of 10

A Canon Pixma TR4520 Printer Driver proves that Canon printers don’t get beat in terms of photo quality. It is easy to read text documents down to the smallest font point, graphics look fantastic, and photos are vivid and vivid (especially on glossy photo paper). However, this is a printer designed specifically for printing photos, so we shouldn’t be surprised.

With regard to print quality, the PIXMA TR4520 is excellent, producing results that would be suitable in a professional office setting if various limitations did not prevent such use. Printed black and white documents were sharp and clear, even when they had small font sizes.

Even mixed text and graphics like color graphics looked great, which is pretty impressive considering this printer. On normal paper, the color reproduction was quite washed out on normal paper, but on gradients and very fine lines, it did very well.

Even though it uses just one color ink cartridge, this printer gets some surprisingly good results when printing photos. A variety of photos were printed in 4×6 and 8×10 inches and looked vivid and colorful, with perfectly saturated colors and excellent detail execution. For a device in this price range, it is on the same level as a good photo printer.

Although the cost of ink is high, you probably won’t want to use this unit as your primary photo printer. The TR4520 is definitely a cut above what I’ve come to expect from a photo printer in this price range.

Speed: Our Score 8.0 Out of 10

Canon Pixma TR4520 Wireless Printer has a printing speed of 8.8ppm for monochrome and 5ppm for color, which averages to about 6.9ppm. Despite its modest speed, it is still good enough to serve as a light office printer at home. The HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 is a great option for small printing needs at home if you need something faster.

Display: Our Score 6.5 Out of 10

The display console of the TR4520 is fine. You can tilt the display for better visibility because the screen is simple to read, although the tilt range is very limited. There is no touchscreen, so you can only use the encircling buttons to navigate the menus. However, it is fairly easy to find your way around the menus.

Cartridge: Our Score 6.5 Out of 10

The PIXMA TR4520 has a problem with its cartridge system too. This printer uses one color and one black cartridge. Although this printer prints many pages of black ink, it does not produce many extra pages if you are printing many essays or documents. The color cartridges may need replacing more frequently since they produce slightly more color pages.

Canon does sell an ink cartridge that holds a bit more ink if you need it. There is also the option to use third-party cartridges with this printer, but that could void its warranty.

Copy & Scan Quality: Our Score 7.0 Out of 10

The Canon TR4520 produces decent black-and-white copies, with an output that is above average in terms of text clarity and decent graphics reproduction. It is a bit slower and less impressive when it comes to copying color but still more than adequate for such an affordable printer.

Added Features: Our Score 8.0 Out of 10

With Canon’s Print App for iOS and Android devices, you can wirelessly print and manipulate images via your Apple or Android device as well as scan files from any Windows or Mac OS X computer. If your wireless network goes down, one feature it lacks is wi-fi direct. Auto-duplexing is supported, however. Moreover, photo paper and glossy paper are available as well. That’s something you rarely see on a printer.

Handling of Papers: Our Score 8.5 Out of 10

One 100-sheet tray can handle a variety of different papers, including photo paper, on the Pixma TR4500. If you plan to use the printer in your own home office as a printer to handle occasional print jobs, its capacity should be plenty, but it is quite small, and I could not use it longer than a few minutes because of its size.

The Epson WF2760, for example, has a paper capacity of 150 sheets, and printers designed for greater volume often have two trays or at least a second input tray.

Value: Our Score 7.0 Out of 10

In addition to printing, scanning, and doing all the other things a modern printer should do, the Canon Pixma TR4520 also offers many other features. Along with a 100-sheet paper tray, it has an automatic document feeder that can hold up to 20 sheets of letter-sized paper. Moreover, Canon has begun to integrate smart home features into their printers, and so the Canon Pixma TR4520 is also supported by Amazon Alexa.

Running Costs: Our Score 6.5 Out of 10

Although most entry-level models are expensive to operate, the TR4520’s monochrome pages are 8.7 cents, and its color pages are 18.7 cents, making it one of the most expensive models I’ve seen. For example, the Brother MFC-J497DW offers lower running costs than the Epson WF-2860, with a 2.7 cents discount on black and 2.2 cents on color prints.

Print at Home: Our Score 9.0 Out of 10

Canon Pixma TR4520 printer is designed for low volume applications. In addition to its high running costs and small paper tray, it also prints at a slow speed, which gives it its astronomical running costs. In addition to excellent print quality, it has voice automation, photo editing from your phone, and automatic two-sided printing, which you won’t get with a printer at this price point.

The high running costs shouldn’t be too much of an issue if you print fewer than two hundred pages each month. In the long run, the Epson WF-2860 and Brother MFC-J497DW are both better alternatives that won’t beat you up as much as the TR4520’s excellent photo quality and automatic duplexing. I think the TR4520 is a great little printer for light-duty use at home. (If you print a lot, you should get a model like the Pixma G4210 that will cost you less down the road.)

Connectivity: Our Score 8.0 Out of 10

The PIXMA TR4520 offers a good set of connectivity features. Wireless printing can be achieved by having this printer connected to your router or by using Apple AirPrint or Mopria Print Service from your mobile device.

In addition to using an ethernet cable, you can connect this printer via an Ethernet cable as well. However, it can’t connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and you can’t print directly from external storage devices like memory cards.

Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app is compatible with the TR4520 Printer. On Android and iOS, the application allows you to print, scan, copy, and view scanned items directly on your device. Even though Canon does not provide ink subscription services, you can still order ink if you need it.

Note: The Canon PIXMA TR4520 is great wireless all in one photo printer with good specs, tons of features, and WiFi capabilities, and it is easy to use. Also, this printer is available at a reasonable price. If you are looking for a complete starter photo printer set that is both affordable and easy to use, this model is for you.

Final Words

Overall, the PIXMA TR4520 wireless all in one photo printer is a good all in one photo printer that offers a lot of features for its price. This printer would make a perfect addition to your home office or small business, and I’m sure you’ve had lots of fun using this all in one printer since you brought it home. Overall, it is a great choice for both multi-purpose and photo prints on the go. The overall quality and performance still live up to the printing expectations as promised. On top of that, this product has been highly recommended by many of its users due to its affordable cost and worth its value.
